It is Happening

I've waited a long time to really update what's going on with me and my little life in a little blog. What is happening feels a little bit like being in a dream like state, and not. It feels like I've been suspended for a while - within that moment when you're awake and falling a sleep. That moment when you feel your body falling into perfect rest and you begin to hear the voices that are being created in your mind. In a way you can say, the state where your dreams are pulling you in. This is my dream pulling me in. I visited New York in October of 2014 because sometime after my art show in 2013, a gallery in New York contacted me to see if I was interested in having my art promoted by them, and having my art shown in their gallery, and also receive representation by them. It took me sometime to think about this greatly, it weighed on my heart and thoughts, so with great support my better half decided. He decided we should at least see the gallery before anything else...

A Dream to a Goal to Reality : The Summary and Aftermath of Release The Butterflies

Image
The long road to success is forged by dreams, plans, sweat, blood, hard work and good friends and family and sacrifice. It is truly a battle of will. You battle everything. You're in a fight with somethings you can't control. Time. Weather. People. The one thing you can control, but you're still going to be in a fight with is yourself and the decisions you have to make.  There is never enough time to do everything that you want to do - even if there is a set date for completion. Sacrifices must be made, even if a lot of effort has been put into the preparation of all things. Things happen and there is nothing else you can do but sacrifice for the greater good of all other things. The weather is never going to be what you want it to be. It's going to rain when you need it to be sunny, it's going to sunny if you don't care if it rains. It's going to be too hot or too cold and then in the end you're going to find yourself praying or asking some unse...

Release The Butterflies

Image
Release the butterflies will be my first solo art show open to the public, happening on July 13, 2013.  I have been studying art since the age of 11 and Art has been a part of my life ever since. I specialize in two traditional styles of art, one is Oriental watercolor and the other is carbon powder art. The style of Oriental watercolor painting I specialize in is called Lingnan, it's origins from china it was created as a fusion of art from the North and South of the Orient. Myself being a Canadian, a lot of my art today is a fusion of the East and West. I am currently planning to hold my first solo art exhibition  'Release the Butterflies'  open to the public, On July 13, 2013 in downtown Vancouver. I am doing so for a number of reasons. One, it is one of my life goals to hold my own art show, but more importantly I have decided to host my own exhibition due to the fact that I may be one of the youngest remaining Lingnan artists in the Greater Van...

Be Strong Like the Bamboo

It's been a while since I've blogged, and there is a reason. Since My birthday, September 29th, 2012. I have been preparing and working towards my upcoming art show called "Release the Butterflies", happening on July 13, 2013 at the Orpheum Annex in Vancouver, BC. I wanted to blog everything from the beginning and my day to day dealings and everything but it was too much to record. I decided to blog today because the month of April is coming to a close, and it's been by far my most difficult month of the year. It may not have seem very long. A month, but a lot can happen in a month. For most of the months before I was scouting out venues, and designing and building art easels for the upcoming show because it was too difficult to find someone I would be able to rent easels from in Vancouver. ( I will back blog for everyone which means everything on my blog dated September 2012 - April 29th, 2013 has been back dated. ) I pulled my back on April 4th lifting a big b...

Artful Return Part 2

Image
I was all nervous this morning about my artful return. Making my way down to the art show with cousin LX was a rough journey. I realized that I'm not really a tall heels person. So if I want sexy heals they better be very comfortable. I had to run to a pharmasave on the way there to get a lint brush roller cause I was covered in dog hair without realizing it when I left the house. I was lint brushing myself with the help of cousin LX at the bus stop. Really it was pretty entertaining to look at if you were paying attention. The skytrain was filled with people, the most that I've seen on a weekend. During this ride my feet were killing me and I only got a chance to sit down for a moment before I gave my seat up to a grandma and grandpa couple. It was only the last 1/3rd of our trip that I get to sit down. But I get to the show. And the rest is up for you to see. Yes I received an honorable mention award. =) Thank you CCAF and CCC. This is just a picture of me fooling ar...

Artful Return Part I

This is to announce my artful return to the Chinese fine arts scene in Vancouver. Some Vancouverites may not know me personally who I am by face, but may have perhaps seem some of my artwork. To view artwork you can visit my website: http://www.syloarts.com . I will be participating in an upcoming art show and would love for fellow Vancouverites to go check it out when it happens. CCC Center in Chinatown. Nov. 7 - Dec. 6th. If you're looking to purchase a bottle and you're a fellow Vancouverite: visit www.fillyourown.ca to find the closest retailer. Those who aren't local and would be interested in purchasing a bottle I will be looking into getting more soon. So I will soon have some in my possession to sell off. In this video I'm calling out music makers to help me make some beats for my videos. I really am tired of not having any music in my videos and would like to have original beats that I can place into as I edit for intros and background music. I will nam...

Yesterday Was A Good Day

Image
Yesterday was a good day. I lazied around in the morning and went to go drop off my painting for an upcoming art show that's going to be at the CCC center between the Nov 7 to Dec 6. The 15th Annual Art Exhibition & Juried Awards 2009. For the Chinese Canadian Artists Federation in Vancouver. Yes I've been a member since, 2003? I've been out of the scene for 2.5 years, due to school and building my Graphic Design part of my life. Now, I'm going to try more than ever to merge these two. I ask myself what have I been doing this last 2.5 years. Not all that much, which is sad. But then I've done a few stuff. I've helped brand some local businesses, build some websites for companies. Got my artwork on some stainless steel water bottles. What else have I done that was career based? One thing I haven't been doing is networking. But now I am willing to open up, show the world what I really have to offer. Going back into fine arts more ready is what I was waitin...
