My 150$ Christmas Budget

Image
This year I've definitely been living on a budget. So this Christmas I set one. My initial gifts were supposed to all equal to 100$ but that wasn't going to happen. However I was able to keep it all under 150$. How did I do this? Most of everything I gifted was homemade. FOR THE SISTER - 1) Home made Vinyasa Scarf - 15$ for materials and buttons. FOR THE NIECE and NEPHEW - 1) Coloring Book - 2$ @ Michael's 2) Hello Kitty Sticker Book - 5$ @ Michael's FOR SISTER'S WHOLE FAMILY - 1) DIY paper toy packages. Paper & Ink - Free. Clear coat paint - 5$@ Canadian Tire designs I got from  http://www.paper-toy.fr/   &  http://minipapercraft.blogspot.ca/ I spent a lot of time altering the original designs (enlarging them), printing them out, and cutting them out, spraying them with clear coat and scoring the fold lines. This ensures a longer lasting and better looking paper toys. 2) Box of Disney puzzles - 8 pack for girls & boys -(not phot...

Making Bread in a Rice Cooker

Image
I was introduced to an anime called " Yakitate Ja-pan". It's about a boy who discovers the love of baking and has what some called "solar hands" - warm hands which are great to have for bakers. In one of the episodes (episode 27) it gives you a recipe and instructions to make bread in a rice cooker. I tried it and to my surprise. It worked!   If you're interested in trying this recipe, you can do so at the following link:  http://www.akiba-station.com/blog/?p=6164

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hello, here is my infamous chocolate chip cookies. Recipe: I don't know how many servings it makes cause I roll my cookies pretty small. Butter _ 1 Cup Brown Sugar _ 1.5 Cups Eggs _ 2 to 3 Flour _ 3 Cups Baking Powder _ 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda _ 1 Teaspoon Chocolate Bar _ 1 Stir in Butter and Brown Sugar Together. Beat in the Eggs. Combine the Dry ingredients and mix well. Chop up the Chocolate to bits and then fold into dough. With an Ice Cream Scooper roll the dough into the sizes you want. Place them dispersed from one another to they don't touch when baked on Parchment Paper On Cookie Sheet. Bake at 375 F. For 8 Mins. If you are going to double the batch. I suggest you pick up one of those large PC chocolate bars at Superstore *if you are in Canada. They are the right amount to make 2 batches of these cookies. If you find its too crispy for your liking.. lessen your butter amount. I find that salted and unsalted butter does make a difference. But it's...

Baking: FAIL

The original recipe is wrong. I thought I had perfected it but I was wrong. I will try again next time. some of them came out perfect some too sweet. Too much sugar doesn't make things better. It's all about finding the right balance. I don't know what it is, every time he talks to me or reaches out. I don't know what the intentions are anymore, my heart starts to crack a little. I feel an awkward nervousness when he texts me, it feels like a dream when he calls. I've never felt this way towards someone before. Is it pure sadness I've buried in my heart? TELL ME >_ I've decided to let it all go.

I received my new license in the mail and it's ugly! I really want to old style back. The new ones look.. "American" so my sister says. I've picked out my scooter, I have fallen in love with the Honda Jazz. I went for my first driving lesson in the rain. Let me tell you, learning standard in a leaky del Sol in the rain is a bad idea. I was a wreck from not the learning of standard driving but the water that was dripping onto my hand that was holding the steering wheel. Not only that, but right when I hit the stop sign at the end of my street the car died. It took us a couple of mins to get it restarted... UGH. no more learning in the rain. After the driving lesson My Cousin and I decided to bake cookies. Here are some pics of her helping out. As for me... I'll stay out of the shot. I end up spending the rest of the day working out on the wii breaking in the wii fit ( which I find harder than it looks ) and watching chinese dramas. Couldn't sleep ...
