Festival of Lights is so pretty it needs no filter

View this post on Instagram A post shared by S.Y. Lo (@syloarts) via Instagram http://ift.tt/13FKIGF Before ending our date night at Festival of Lights, we hit up the Christmas Market at QE plaza... I don't know if it's worth going every year to. Maybe some people do it as a tradition. It was nice to be first time visit to Festival of lights. Everything is so pretty and it was neat to see the creativity of those who designed the lights. I was impressed with the water bottle tulips.  Alright while I was walking around the park, I see lit up mushrooms, and another mushroom and then when I saw the larger mushroom in this photo I said... OH LOOK! JELLY FISH! Please don't ask my why I said out of the mushrooms I saw before....that I assumed the one that we came up was a jellyfish. Perhaps it was the thicker strand of lights around it's rim and then the squiggle strand beneath it. Boyfriend has become accustomed to my unique thinking patterns. Th...

Inkdrops are falling on my head.... Not really #VAG

View this post on Instagram A post shared by S.Y. Lo (@syloarts) via Instagram http://ift.tt/13ZBWUz Today is Christmas Eve Date day with the boyfriend. First stop is the Vancouver art gallery to see the forbidden city exhibit. Spoiled by ROM and the MET... and watching other documentaries have spoiled my pure curiosity and WOW factor of this exhibit. The problems of self-educating. Still beautiful to see though and interesting. I love the different ways artists are pushing Asian artwork that was being shown on the second level. The art piece that seemed like a giant watercolour painting was created through shadows and objects behind it lit up by florescent lighting.

Murals Home For Now and Eat Fraser Valley

So in the morning we headed out to a salon opened up by my sisters friend called: Open to Beauty. Dropping off a painting series for it to be hung there. I'm thinking of doing more pieces to showcase there. It's a nice space. Here's a photo of the painting all nice and hung. As I was dropping off the painting, Koji got a pet blessing from a priest that was sitting next door outside at the coffee shop, giving out pet blessings for St. Francis of Assisi's day. :) We headed to B-'s mom's and aunties to pick them up as we were all going to Eat Fraser Valley! It was pretty interesting spending the afternoon with them, as this is their first 'Eat' event. Yi-ma ( Chinese for second mom / auntie ) reminded me very much of my own mom. As we had to watch her carefully or she would go off on her own without notice. I would say she's more bold to go off on her own to new tables and try everything! I personally thought it was pretty awesome. We got ...

Ice Cream and Pizza, Happy 3 Year Anniversary!

Image
On this day boyfriend decided to take the whole day off to spend with me. ( I didn't know ) And wondered in the morning why he didn't wake up for work. We spent the morning Winners hopping- in other words, shopping at various Winners locations. I simply enjoyed spending the day with him :) We head on over to Steveston today for dinner, ice cream ( the best hazelnut ice cream EVER! from Timothy's Cafe ) Where the waffle is nice and warm and fresh!  We also go and get a pizza! A seafood pizza from Steveston Pizza Co. - It was a different kind of pizza for sure. Later that night I got a wonderful gift from him ♥, What it is, I'll share with you another day.

Happy Valentines Dinner

It's the day after Valentines Day, and my bf has decided to have dinner catered to celebrate Valentines. To start the evening off he reveals the Valentines present he's gotten me. What girl doesn't enjoy receiving Tiffany's?! The Chef came over and it was FANTASTIC! He served us right in our own home. He even set up the table settings and brought a rose in a small water vase for decor. I loved the whole experience. Fresh Oysters, Raw! mmMmMm So GOOD! :D Everything was good! Every Bite and Sip. Loved the desserts, I always love dessert! My Yelp Review on Local Philosophy Catering

A Dream to a Goal to Reality : The Summary and Aftermath of Release The Butterflies

Image
The long road to success is forged by dreams, plans, sweat, blood, hard work and good friends and family and sacrifice. It is truly a battle of will. You battle everything. You're in a fight with somethings you can't control. Time. Weather. People. The one thing you can control, but you're still going to be in a fight with is yourself and the decisions you have to make.  There is never enough time to do everything that you want to do - even if there is a set date for completion. Sacrifices must be made, even if a lot of effort has been put into the preparation of all things. Things happen and there is nothing else you can do but sacrifice for the greater good of all other things. The weather is never going to be what you want it to be. It's going to rain when you need it to be sunny, it's going to sunny if you don't care if it rains. It's going to be too hot or too cold and then in the end you're going to find yourself praying or asking some unse...

Osoyoos 2012

Image
It's just a trip - the four of us. Tom, V, B- and I  We get on the road and have to pull over one third into our trip as Tom's wheel shredded. We go to get it fixed quickly and we're on our way again. Pretty packaging found! :D Before we stopped at Smitty's for lunch.   Life Goal Achieved:  #104. Jetski-ing

How far can you go?

Image
It's my first time at a driving range. Is that so strange, all of my life and I've never been to one. Till BJ took me. We're there to meet up with CL, BJ's friend. We hit a few dozen balls.  Apparently I'm surprisingly a natural at this.  :)

Shota Sushi & Grill

It's our mid week date and it's our dinner date. Eating here for the first time. The food was pretty good. Although I can't quite remember the service. Food: 3.5/5

Trip to the States

Image
It's been a while since I headed down to the States. Even for the B- a guy who claims he used to go every weekend. But has been totally distracted since being with me. But here we are being silly at a mall. Looking at hats. I should have gotten that DKNY / London Fog trench coat ... ugh it was worth it.

My New Mattress

Image
I've been having backaches for some time and B-'s solution was to get a new mattress and here it is. As we try to stuff it into the back of his car. It was a heck of a time to fold it and shove it in the car but it fit. This is one thing that changed my life. My back is much better from this comfy decision to upgrade.

The Lunches He Makes

Image
He makes me lunch sometimes - Mondays mostly. He drops them of at my office on the way to his. :) He makes Monday Mornings Bearable.. or any day of the week that I see him.

A Trip to the Vancouver Museum

Image
Yes Yes this is another one of my Museum groupons on which I dragged B- to go with. We traveled through the building and played with little gadgets. There was this one machine in which I thought would work in giving us a memento of our little trip but it simply ate my money. There was one thing how ever I was overly excited to play with and to see if it worked was a jukebox which I was gladly willingly feed it money for me to see it function and play a record. There was an exhibit called Bhangara Me. Where I saw people's name and faces in whom I recognized and turns out that a few years ago I actually designed some of their websites. I played around with some instruments and realized I could not play them at all. I danced around in the dancing stage room trying to follow the steps. We wandered the Museum traveling and learning about the history of Vancouver. After the Museum we ate dinner at Brown's Social House. The food was good, giving a perfect ending feel to a great day wi...
